About the role

Responsible for the professional setup and technical assistance of respiratory equipment such as ventilators and CPAP units in patients' homes. Performs comprehensive patient assessments and provides essential patient education in accordance with company policy.

This employee performs equipment setups in a timely and professional manner.

Generally responsible for the setup of equipment such as high flow chest wall oscillations devices, cough assists, INR monitors, and nebulizers

Also responsible for providing technical assistance with equipment

Incumbents may perform setup of all types of oxygen equipment as well

  • Job functions
  • Provides patient education as an intricate part of the patient care activity according to the patient need and Lincare policy, frequently in patients home
  • Requires use of a personal vehicle with a valid driver's license
  • Maintains current knowledge of respiratory homecare techniques and relevant respiratory therapy concepts
  • Follows applicable policies and procedures of the Safety & Regulatory Manual regarding General Safety, OSHA (includes the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment), DOT (driving safety), FDA, and Emergency Planning
  • Represents Lincare through professional personal appearance, patient care activities, and content of written reports
  • Facilitates prescription collection
  • Maintains patient records in complete and organized manner in compliance with company policy and accreditation standards
  • Works on-call evenings and weekends on an as-scheduled basis
  • Frequency is determined by the center size and the number of employees available to share in the responsibility
  • Must respond in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • Experience
  • Level 1 - Familiar with equipment and services provided in the home healthcare setting, or other experience in patient care, Required
  • Level 2 - Minimum of two years in home healthcare, Required
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must have excellent human relations to interface with doctors, other referral sources, and patients
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must be a clinician authorized within his/her scope of practice, as established by applicable state law, to provide patient care services offered by Lincare
  • Licenses and Certifications
  • Must have completed all training/education required to obtain requisite license described, Required
  • Must remain licensed by the applicable state board governing his/her clinical practice (LPN/LVN), Required

Requirements

Requires a valid driver's license and professional licensure as a Respiratory Therapist, RN, LPN, or other qualified clinician. Candidates must have experience in home healthcare or patient care settings and maintain current state or national board certifications.
