The Medical Assistant provides nursing and administrative support within Horizon Wellness Clinics. Responsibilities include performing client care procedures, managing treatment rooms, and utilizing electronic health records.
full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Location: Lynchburg VA, 24501
Compensation dependent on experience
The Medical Assistant will work in the Horizon Wellness Clinics and will perform selected nursing and administrative support duties.
Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications/treatments.
Knowledge of medical terminology, preferably behavioral healthcare medical terminology.
Knowledge of client care such as examination and treatment room procedures.
Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer client care.
Knowledge of medical practice.
Strong computer knowledge.
Knowledge and experience using an electronic health record (EHR).
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions.
Knowledge of HIPAA and ability to maintain confidentiality of client information.
Ability to maintain positive working relationships with clients, medical staff and non-medical staff.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) as required.
Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any
Horizon worksite. Regular attendance at training and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites;
Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
