Boston West Veterinary Emergency & Specialty in Natick, MA is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery team. This full-time Veterinary Technician opportunity is ideal for a Vet Tech looking to grow advanced anesthesia, surgical nursing, and specialty medicine skills while working alongside multiple board-certified surgeons. Join a collaborative specialty animal hospital where your technical skills, patient care, and commitment to veterinary medicine make an impact every day.

  • Compensation
  • $25–$35/hour based on experience, anesthesia background, and skill assessment
  • Additional compensation available for anesthesia on-call hours provided through the ER service
  • Up to $5,000 bonus based on certification and skill set
  • 50% paid after 6 months of employment
  • 50% paid after 1 year of employment

Responsibilities

  • As a Surgery Veterinary Technician at Boston West, you’ll work closely with our board-certified surgeons and clinical team to deliver high-level surgical and perioperative patient care.
  • Support patients through all stages of the surgical visit, from admission through recovery
  • Assist with patient assessments, diagnostics, and treatments
  • Perform and monitor anesthesia and sedation for a variety of procedures
  • Prepare and assist during advanced soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries, including scrubbing in
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery to ensure comfort and safety
  • Provide exceptional client communication and patient advocacy throughout hospitalization
  • Assist with advanced diagnostic imaging, including CT and C-arm imaging
  • Maintain accurate medical records and uphold high standards of patient care and safety

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience in a clinical setting
  • CVT, LVT, or RVT preferred, but not required
  • Strong anesthesia monitoring skills required
  • Experience with radiographic technique preferred
  • Surgical nursing experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced specialty hospital environment
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative team mindset
  • Commitment to patient safety, client service, and high-quality veterinary medicine
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
