About the role

The Milieu Therapist conducts individual and group counseling sessions while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient treatment plans. They are responsible for maintaining accurate clinical records and educating patients on healthy coping mechanisms for behavioral health issues.

Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Conducts psycho-educational, process, support groups, and provides individual counseling as needed/qualified.
  • Participates as a team member in planning treatment programs.
  • Collaborates in the treatment planning process.
  • Develops cooperative relationships with volunteers and service organizations to expand programming opportunities for patients.
  • Maintains timely, accurate and thorough clinical records and documentation.
  • Provides input regarding the clinical needs of patients.
  • Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients that are beneficial to their treatment.
  • Counsels patients individually and in group sessions to assist them in dealing with behavioral health problems and social issues.
  • Collaborates with TCs, physicians/NPs and nurses to plan and coordinate treatment based on patients’ needs. Also utilizes the clinical record as a source of information.
  • Educates the patients on alternative healthy ways of coping with problematic events and emotions.
  • Completes all required documentation according to policies and procedures, and ensures that daily clinical notes document the patients’ progress in meeting their treatment goals.

  • Promotes exceptional customer service throughout the program.
  • Facilitates active patient participation in the treatment process.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Masters degree or CADC required
  • Experience providing mental health, eating disorders and/or substance abuse treatment services is preferred
