Responsibilities

  • Deliver post-anesthesia care for patients in Phase I and Phase II recovery, with emphasis on safety and stability
  • Monitor vitals, airway and breathing, incision sites, temperature, pain, and fluid status; promptly address adverse events
  • Administer medications and manage PACU equipment (e.g., PCA pumps, IV pumps, warming devices) and monitoring systems
  • Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical teams, and unit staff; document assessments and plan of care in the electronic health record
  • Prepare patients for transfer to the appropriate unit or discharge; provide patient and family education as indicated

Requirements

  • Active Hawaii RN license by the start date - 2+ years of critical care nursing (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting; may substitute for PACU experience per program guidelines
  • BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association; PALS recommended and may be required for specific assignments
  • Valid professional license in the state of practice
  • Ability to work in a PACU/ASU and adapt to rotating shifts; ability to travel for a travel assignment
  • Proof of Hawaii license by start date; proof of flu vaccination or approved exemption required prior to contract start date
