About the role

Plan and provide direct professional nursing care for pediatric patients throughout their episode of service delivery. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support children with complex gastrointestinal, nephrology, and eating disorder conditions.

Under general supervision, assumes 24-hour accountability to plan and provide direct professional nursing care for specified patients throughout the entire episode of service delivery as defined by population and unit. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the standards of practice of a professional nurse, Connecticut Children’s policies & procedures, Joint Commission, and State & federal regulations. Reports to Nurse Manager.

MS6 is a very teamwork oriented, fast paced inpatient floor.

We provide care to both medical and surgical patients, and specialize in the care of children with complex gastrointestinal and nephrology conditions as well as eating disorders.

We work closely with both the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units as we are the next step for children graduating out of the ICU environment.

We value continuity of care and build strong trusting relationships with our patients and their families.

Requirements

Requires an ASN upon hire, with a BSN preferred or required within three years, and a valid Connecticut RN license. Must hold CPR/BLS certification and obtain Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training within three months of hire.
