The Critical Care RN provides comprehensive, high-acuity care to critically ill patients across medical, surgical, and cardiac ICU units. Responsibilities include continuous cardiac monitoring and performing advanced interventions to stabilize patients with life-threatening conditions.
Medical and surgical care are provided to patients in the CRITICAL CARE area. The scope of care includes patients who are critically ill or whose conditions require the intensive monitoring services of ICU, cardiac and are at risk of needing immediate intensive treatment including COVID and all patients requiring isolation. Treatment/procedures provided in the ICU include, but are not limited to, arterial line monitoring, hemodynamic monitoring, central line monitoring, mechanical ventilation, ECG monitoring and interpretation, gastric lavage, pulse oximetry, pacemaker monitoring, administration of vasoactive intravenous medication, thrombolytic therapy, elective cardioversion, hemodialysis, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Intra-Atrial Ballon Pump (IABP) and Swan Ganz catheter monitoring and post-anesthesia recovery as needed.
