  • Summary: The RN, KDU Belcourt provides specialized nursing care to patients receiving dialysis treatment within the Kidney Dialysis Unit. This role performs detailed patient assessments, closely monitors hemodynamic status, and delivers individualized care before, during, and after dialysis treatments. Working collaboratively with nephrologists, dialysis technicians, and interdisciplinary team members, the RN helps ensure treatments are delivered safely, equipment functions properly, and patient needs are addressed promptly. As part of a supportive, team-oriented dialysis environment, this position promotes safe, effective treatment sessions through vigilant monitoring, patient education, and strict adherence to dialysis protocols, contributing to improved patient well-being and quality outcomes.

  • Responsibilities: Conduct pre-treatment nursing assessments, review patient histories, and evaluate readiness for dialysis therapy. Initiate, monitor, and discontinue dialysis treatments in accordance with established clinical guidelines and patient-specific care plans. Assess and monitor patient responses throughout treatment, intervening promptly in the event of adverse reactions or hemodynamic instability. Provide education to patients and families regarding dialysis processes, self-care strategies, fluid and dietary considerations, and equipment safety. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and treatment outcomes in the electronic health record. Collaborate with nephrology providers, technicians, and support staff to ensure proper equipment setup, infection-prevention practices, and adherence to regulatory standards.

  • Required: Current or temporary RN license in North Dakota or compact RN licensure. BLS certification required within orientation period. Specialty certification in area of practice is desirable.
