The Opportunity Cladda is seeking a board-certified (or board-eligible) Veterinary Criticalist to join our specialty team.

This is a chance to lead and shape a critical care/ICU service within a supportive, well-equipped emergency and specialty hospital — working alongside emergency clinicians and other specialty services to deliver high-quality, coordinated care for our most complex patients.

Support to build a specialty service with input into equipment, protocols, and team structure Access to a 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital infrastructure, including advanced diagnostic and monitoring equipment A collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment Relocation assistance available Full benefits package (health insurance, dental, vision, STD, LTD, 4 weeks PTO, generous CE allowance, license/dues reimbursement, retirement plan with match — further details shared during the interview process) Location Fredericksburg, VA — convenient to Richmond, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia, with easy access to the Blue Ridge Mountains, Chesapeake Bay, and a growing, family-friendly community.

Market context

Criticalist roles remain specialized in Virginia

Virginia criticalist positions are typically in steady demand because emergency and intensive care services rely on a small pool of residency-trained veterinarians. These roles are competitive due to the need for an accredited emergency and critical care residency, a valid Virginia veterinary license, and preferred DACVECC board certification; board-eligible candidates may still be considered. Review the AI-summarized requirements and benefits on this platform to quickly compare fit, then confirm licensure and residency details before applying.
