Giacare inc. Is accepting applications from experienced ophthalmology technicians/Technologists for a future opportunity supporting the warfighter refractive surgery and ophthalmology clinic at keesler medical group, keesler air force base, mississippi.

This position is being recruited in anticipation of contract award. Qualified candidates will be considered for employment upon contract award.

About the opportunity

Join an elite ophthalmology team supporting active-duty service members, military retirees, and their families. This position provides both clinical and technical support for comprehensive eye care and refractive surgery services, including PRK, LASIK, and other advanced ophthalmic procedures. You'll work alongside Optometrists and Ophthalmologists in a fast-paced military specialty clinic utilizing advanced diagnostic and surgical technology.

SCHEDULE • Full-Time • Monday-Friday • Flexible schedule between 6

  • 00
  • AM and 6:00 PM
  • 9-hour workday including a 1-hour unpaid lunch
  • No on-call
  • Not to exceed 80 hours per two-week pay period

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for ophthalmologic examinations and refractive surgery procedures
  • Assist Optometrists and Ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures
  • Perform ophthalmic testing including:
  • Visual acuity
  • Tonometry
  • Visual fields
  • Corneal topography
  • Auto-refraction
  • Keratometry
  • Pachymetry
  • Ocular photography
  • OCT and other diagnostic testing
  • Assist with refractive surgery procedures including PRK and LASIK
  • Prepare, clean, sterilize, and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment
  • Administer ophthalmic medications as directed
  • Provide patient education regarding contact lenses, postoperative care, and eye health
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic health record
  • Perform daily equipment calibration and quality assurance checks
  • Support clinic operations while maintaining exceptional patient care standards

Minimum Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One of the following:
  • Completion of two years of college and an ophthalmic technician course, or
  • Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) with at least 24 months of ophthalmology/optometry experience within the past 36 months
  • Minimum 12 months of ophthalmic/medical clinic support experience within the past 24 months
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current COA or COT certification, or ability to obtain COA certification within one year of employment and maintain certification thereafter

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in refractive surgery, LASIK, or PRK
  • Experience using ophthalmic diagnostic equipment
  • Strong patient education and customer service skills
  • Experience with electronic health records
