Triage and stabilize emergency patients while monitoring hospitalized critically ill animals. Collaborate with veterinarians and specialists to perform diagnostics, administer medications, and assist in emergency surgeries.
Triage incoming emergency patients and assist with patient stabilization. Perform patient assessments and monitor hospitalized emergency patients throughout the shift. Place and maintain intravenous catheters and administer medications and fluid therapy as directed. Collect laboratory samples and perform in-house diagnostic testing. Assist with radiographs, diagnostic imaging, and emergency procedures. Monitor anesthesia and assist with emergency surgeries and procedures as needed. Provide exceptional nursing care to hospitalized and critically ill patients. Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation. Collaborate closely with emergency veterinarians, specialists, and fellow technicians to provide seamless patient care. Deliver compassionate communication and support to clients during emergency situations.
Minimum of 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience, preferably in Emergency Medicine Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, or CVT) preferred Strong understanding of veterinary nursing, restraint, phlebotomy, anesthesia, diagnostic imaging, laboratory procedures, and patient monitoring Excellent communication and teamwork skills Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced emergency environment Ability to remain calm under pressure while prioritizing patient care Fluent English speaking and reading skills required Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus About the Hospital Animal Specialty & Emergency Center of Brevard is a 24-hour specialty and emergency referral hospital dedicated to providing advanced diagnostics, progressive treatments, and compassionate patient care.
