About the role

Provide individualized nursing care to surgical and cardiac patients to return them to a hemodynamically stable condition after anesthesia. Assess, plan, and evaluate total nursing care for a group of patients while coordinating with other departments for continuity of care.

Full Time M-F Days 4-10 Hour Shifts

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit has identified its scope of care to include all aspects of Post Anesthesia Care, specifically to assist the surgical and cardiac patient in returning to a hemodynamically stable condition after an anesthetic by providing safe, knowledgeable, and individualized nursing care in the immediate post anesthesia phase. The Cardiac PACU focuses on recovering Cardiac Cath Lab patients.

Registered professional nurse who assesses, implements or delegates, plans, and evaluates total nursing care and functions in accordance with established philosophy, providing and directing patient care for a group of patients. Relates effectively with other shifts/departments for optimal continuity of care.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Valid Texas RN License/Eligible Compact License
  • Must maintain a current BLS, ACLS certification from American Heart Association
  • BSN required or obtained within 3 years of hire
  • Minimum of 1 year of acute care experience
  • ICU experience required
  • PACU experience preferred

Requirements

Requires a valid Texas RN license, BSN (or obtained within 3 years), and current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. Minimum of one year of acute care experience is required, specifically with CVICU experience.
