Texas Regional Physicians is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated PRN Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care by assisting providers with examinations and procedures, maintaining accurate medical documentation, coordinating patient care, and ensuring efficient daily clinic operations. Work Schedule This is a PRN (as-needed) position. Hours are not guaranteed and are scheduled based on clinic operational needs. Availability Requirements Must be available to work scheduled shifts Monday through Saturday Scheduled hours generally fall between 8:15 AM and 4:30 PM Saturday availability is required, averaging three (3) Saturdays per month PRN employees are expected to maintain flexibility to meet clinic staffing needs Essential Job Responsibilities Patient Care Welcome patients in a courteous, professional, and compassionate manner. Escort patients to examination rooms. Obtain and document patient history, chief complaint, medications, allergies, and vital signs. Prepare patients for examinations and procedures. Assist physicians and providers during examinations and treatments. Perform dressing changes, bandage application, suture removal, and other physician-directed procedures. Prepare and administer injectable medications as ordered. Utilize CPR skills when necessary. Clinical Documentation Accurately document all patient information within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Record treatments, procedures, laboratory results, and provider instructions. Maintain complete and accurate patient records while ensuring HIPAA compliance. Care Coordination Process prescription refill requests according to office protocols. Coordinate internal and external referrals. Verify and upload imaging, referrals, and medical records. Communicate laboratory and imaging results as directed. Educate patients regarding medications, diet, exercise, testing, and follow-up care. Administrative Duties Answer and appropriately route incoming telephone calls. Take accurate messages and communicate them promptly. Maintain inventory of clinical and office supplies. Record patient and laboratory charges accurately for billing. Assist with scheduling and other administrative functions as assigned. Additional Responsibilities Recognize and appropriately respond to urgent or emergent patient situations. Maintain examination rooms, supplies, medications, and equipment. Perform basic patient triage according to office protocols. Follow all safety procedures and equipment guidelines. Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and appropriate appearance. Foster positive working relationships with physicians, staff, and leadership. Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Attend departmental meetings and required training. Cross-train to support other clinical responsibilities as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
