Responsibilities

As an Overnight Veterinary Technician, you will provide exceptional nursing care to emergency and critically ill patients while supporting veterinarians in a fast-paced specialty hospital. Assist veterinarians with emergency patient assessments, treatments, and procedures Monitor hospitalized Emergency and ICU patients and promptly communicate changes in patient status Perform venipuncture, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, and laboratory sample collection Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian Provide anesthesia support and patient monitoring during emergency procedures Perform diagnostic imaging and assist with laboratory testing Calculate medication dosages accurately and maintain detailed medical records Deliver compassionate nursing care to hospitalized patients Communicate professionally with clients regarding patient status and treatment plans Collaborate with Veterinary Technicians, veterinarians, and support staff to provide exceptional patient care Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient treatment area

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience in General Practice or Emergency Veterinary Medicine required Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) preferred Strong technical skills including venipuncture, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, anesthesia support, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory procedures Knowledge of veterinary pharmacology and medication calculations Excellent communication and teamwork skills Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced emergency environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to exceptional patient care Fluent English speaking and reading skills required About the Hospital Veterinary Specialists of Birmingham (VSB) is a specialty and emergency veterinary hospital dedicated to providing advanced patient care through collaboration, innovation, and clinical excellence. Requirements

Requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in general practice or emergency veterinary medicine. A Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credential is preferred along with strong technical skills in anesthesia and phlebotomy.
