  • Schedule: Full-Time | Three 12-hour shifts per week | Friday - Sunday | 7am - 7pm or 8am - 8pm The Veterinary Emergency Referral Center (VERC) is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency team in Pensacola, Florida. This is a great opportunity for a Veterinary Assistant who enjoys emergency medicine, hands-on patient care, and working alongside a collaborative team dedicated to providing exceptional care for pets and their families. Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency and specialty hospital environment. Assist Veterinary Technicians and doctors with patient treatments, procedures, and daily nursing care. Perform safe patient restraint and assist with obtaining diagnostic imaging, including radiographs. Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery under the direction of veterinary team members. Provide care for hospitalized patients, including cleaning, feeding, walking, and monitoring patient comfort. Prepare and maintain treatment areas, equipment, and supplies to support efficient patient care. Assist with surgical procedures, including instrument preparation, sterilization, wrapping, and storage. Maintain excellent aseptic technique and follow proper cleaning and sterilization procedures. Communicate effectively with clients and team members regarding patient care and hospital needs. Support a positive, collaborative team environment focused on exceptional patient outcomes.

Qualifications

Minimum of one year of Veterinary Assistant experience required; emergency or specialty veterinary experience preferred. Understanding of basic veterinary assistant skills, including patient restraint, radiology support, anesthesia assistance, and patient care. Knowledge of surgical procedures, surgical instruments, aseptic technique, sterilization processes, and instrument handling preferred. Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-volume emergency environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and veterinary team members. Ability to remain calm, organized, and compassionate in stressful situations. Fluent English speaking and reading skills are required for this role. Fluency in multiple languages is a plus. Requirements
