Saugus Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician to join our collaborative, patient-focused team. We are a busy three-doctor small animal practice committed to providing exceptional patient care while fostering a supportive, positive environment for both our clients and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during appointments, treatments, and procedures
  • Safely restrain patients for examinations, diagnostics, and treatments
  • Collect blood, urine, fecal, and other laboratory samples
  • Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratories
  • Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes in condition
  • Assist with anesthesia monitoring, surgical preparation, and patient recovery (based on experience)
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
  • Take and process radiographs
  • Educate clients on medications, preventive care, and discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Help keep the hospital clean, organized, and running efficiently

Qualifications

We're looking for candidates who have

  • Previous experience working as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician (required)
  • Strong patient restraint and animal handling skills
  • Experience with laboratory procedures, radiology, and patient care
  • Surgical and anesthesia experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • The ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to support the team
  • Schedule
  • Full-time position
  • Choose between four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts
  • One Saturday shift each month is required
