About the role

The Dental Hygienist performs routine clinical procedures including scaling, polishing, and root planning to prevent oral disease. They also provide oral health education, nutrition counseling, and diet analysis to help patients maintain optimum oral health.

As a Dental Hygienist for the Swope Health, you will provide care for the people in our community that need it the most.

The Dental Hygienist assists in oral health education and performing clinical operations in the prevention of oral disease.

The Dental Hygienist aids our patients in attaining and maintaining optimum oral health.

Primary Functions

Performs routine dental procedures such as scaling of teeth, including subgingival regions and root planning with hand and ultrasonic instruments, polishing of all exposed tooth surfaces with motor driven and hand instruments in the oral prophylaxis procedure.

Instructs patients and others in preventive dental health practices, provides nutrition counseling and diet analysis for patients.

Evaluates and makes available effective dental health educational material to interested groups, patients and other staff.

Must complete Patient Safety Training curriculum.

Successful Candidates will have

Graduation from an accredited school or program in dental hygiene.

State license to practice dental hygiene in Missouri and Kansas

One year experience in private practice or clinical setting preferred.

Candidates must have graduated from an accredited dental hygiene program and hold a state license to practice in Missouri and Kansas. One year of experience in a private practice or clinical setting is preferred.
