About the role

The Registered Nurse performs patient assessments to derive nursing diagnoses and plans interventions with an interdisciplinary team. They provide palliative care, emotional support, and education to patients and their families to ensure comfort and independence.

Position Title

Registered Nurse REPORTS TO: Patient Care Manager FSLA: Non-exempt POSITION SCOPE: Perform assessment of assigned patients and derive nursing diagnoses based on assessment data. Plan nursing interventions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to resolve current problems or prevent potential problems. Provide teaching to patients/families to assist in the patients comfort as needed. Provide emotional support to patients/families in a manner that fosters independence and affirms existing strengths. Assess the need for home health aide services. Assess and provide pain management strategies to assist with the patient's comfort. Promote working in a team environment. Comply with policies and procedures of Hospice of Huntington, Inc. Protects the confidentiality of private health care information of patients Promote the philosophy and services of Hospice of Huntington, Inc. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited professional school of nursing; BSN preferred. Licensed registered nurse in West Virginia and Ohio. Minimum of 2 years registered nursing experience; home health or hospice nursing preferred. Proof of liability insurance. Current driver's license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation. Philosophy compatible with the hospice concept. PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: 1. Performs assessment of assigned patients and derives nursing diagnoses based on assessment data. 2. Plans nursing interventions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to resolve current problems or prevent potential problems. 3. Provides teaching to patients/families to assist in the patients comfort as needed. 4. Provides emotional support to patients/families in a manner that fosters independence and affirms existing strengths. 5. Assesses the need for home health aide services. 6. Assesses and provides palliative care strategies to assist with the patient's comfort. 7. Promotes working in a team environment. 8. Complies with policies and procedures of Hospice of Huntington, Inc. 9. Complies with the Privacy Policies of Hospice of Huntington in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act 10. Promotes the philosophy and services of Hospice of Huntington, Inc. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and possession of a valid driver's license.

Requirements

Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school with a valid RN license in West Virginia and Ohio, and a BSN is preferred. A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required, along with a valid driver's license and liability insurance.
