About the role

Provide specialized nursing care for patients in a 28-bed General Medical, Telemetry, and Stroke unit. Responsibilities include medication administration, blood transfusions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of physicians and nursing assistants.

Our team on 5 South is currently hiring for nurses who are looking to work in a fast- paced, patient- centered environment! 5 South is a 28-bed General Medical, Telemetry, and Stroke unit that provides specialized care for a variety of patients, while working collaboratively with our dedicated team of nursing assistants and physicians. Nurses on 5 South play an essential role in providing high-quality care in a unit that handles everything from stroke management to medication administration, blood transfusions, and more.

Expertise

Our hospital has been certified since 2007 as a Primary Stroke Center by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services. Nurses on our team specialize in medication administration including PCA/PCEA, intravenous therapy, oxygen therapy, blood transfusions, wound care, and the use and maintenance of specialized equipment.

Requirements

Education - ASN required. BSN Preferred. Previously grandfathered active RN’s who graduated from an accredited nursing school as a Diploma RN will continue to have ASN requirement waived.

Experience - Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital setting required.

Licensure/Certification - Specialty certification recognized by the Magnet Recognition Program™ preferred. Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in Nurse Multi-State Compact agreement, holds Registered Nurse License from that state that is designated as "Compact" or "Multi-State Privilege" using primary source verification and provides additional documentation as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. RN License from a compact state with a designation of "Single State" does not meet the requirement and nurse must obtain a Maryland license. Specialty certification preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Ability to apply the standards of professional nursing practice with compassion and empathy. Basic computer skills required. Must possess a high level of organization and communication skills.
