Responsibilities

  • Deliver coordinated perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing surgery or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process.
  • Assess patient status, implement and revise care plans, monitor progress, and document outcomes.
  • Supervise and direct the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff; coordinate care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking, professional judgment, and independent decision-making.
  • Administer medications and therapies as ordered; monitor for adverse reactions and maintain patient safety; ensure adherence to sterile technique and infection control practices.
  • Collaborate with members of the surgical team (surgeons, anesthesiologists, circulating staff) to provide safe, efficient perioperative care and participate in handoffs to postoperative teams.

Requirements

  • Education: RN degree from an accredited nursing program (ADN/BSN acceptable)
  • Licensure: Current or active Registered Nurse license in California
  • Experience: OR/perioperative nursing experience preferred
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Skills: Ability to work 8-hour day shifts (5x8 schedule) and function effectively in a fast-paced perioperative environment
