Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for providing direct resident care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff while assisting in maintaining a positive physical, mental, and psychosocial environment for all residents.

Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist residents with personal care and activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, shaving, oral care, hair care, nail care, and skin care. Assist residents with range of motion exercises, turning, repositioning, ambulation, and the use of assistive devices. Assist with resident recreational and activity programs as assigned. Serve meals, snacks, and nutritional supplements; assist residents with eating and encourage fluid intake every two (2) hours unless otherwise indicated, documenting food and fluid intake as required. Assist with the Bowel and Bladder Training Program in accordance with established care plans. Obtain and accurately record vital signs. Obtain and accurately record resident heights and weights. Assist in the dining room as assigned. Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly resident environment. Change bed linens as needed. Read, understand, and follow each resident's Activities of Daily Living (ADL) care plan. Follow assigned restorative nursing and rehabilitative procedures. Observe residents for changes in condition and promptly report findings to the Charge Nurse or licensed nurse. Document care provided on the designated medical record in accordance with facility policies and procedures. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Director of Nursing. Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all policies and regulations regarding resident rights. Recognize, prevent, and report suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation of residents in accordance with facility policy. Promote and maintain a safe, clean environment in which residents may live. Serve as an active member of the facility team by placing residents as the highest priority.

  • REQUIREMENTS: Must be currently certified and in good standing in the State in which the facility is located. A C.N.A. must maintain at least twelve (12) in-service training hours per year.
