About the role

The Behavioral Health Coordinator manages incoming referrals and maintains electronic medical records for the school-based health team. They are responsible for scheduling appointments, verifying patient insurance information, and ensuring all necessary consent forms are completed.

Blue Ridge Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Coordinator to be part of our School Based Health - Behavioral Healthcare Team

What you'll do

The SBH Behavioral Health Coordinator is an integral member of the SBHC team and works in cooperation with the Behavioral Health team members to schedule incoming referrals. Responsibilities include:

Receive and track all incoming referrals for behavioral health services.

Responsible for proper maintenance of all electronic medical record information related to the referral process, which may include, but is not limited to transferring, retrieving, creating, and repairing records.

Assumes responsibility for correctly entering all required registration and insurance information on established and new patients into the computer. Also, periodically verifies above information to ensure accuracy.

Schedules internal new appointments for SBHC patients. Ensures all required paperwork – registration, release of information, and consent forms are completed by guardian before appointment is scheduled.

Assists providers in requesting patient records when needed.

Provides follow-up information regarding the referral appointment to the referral source.

Maintains a close working relationship with all BH clinical staff to ensure optimal patient flow.

Protects the confidentiality of patients by complying with the BRH patient confidentiality policy.

What We're Looking For

High school diploma or equivalent required.

CPR certification required.

CPI certification required.

First aid certification required.

Licensed Practical Nurse or Medical Assistant with primary care/ambulatory care clinical experience preferred.

Bilingual – Spanish language, preferred.

Experience with electronic medical record systems and/or previous referral coordination preferred.

Ability to organize, communicate and perform detailed functions required.
