About the role

Provide comprehensive general dentistry services to Veterans, including examinations, diagnoses, and complex dental procedures. Coordinate with healthcare staff to deliver integrated care while documenting findings in the VA electronic health record system.

Akicita Federal is hiring General Dentists to deliver comprehensive oral health care to our nation's Veterans through the Orlando VA Healthcare System in Orlando, FL. This is a full-time, onsite position providing direct dental services at the Veterans Way campus, where you will play a meaningful role in improving the health and quality of life of those who have served our country.

Provide comprehensive general dentistry services to eligible Veteran patients, including examinations, diagnoses, and treatment planning

Perform routine and complex dental procedures such as restorations, extractions, endodontics, and prosthodontics as within the general dentist scope of practice

Diagnose oral health conditions and develop individualized treatment plans aligned with each Veteran's overall health needs

Document all clinical findings, treatment rendered, and patient interactions accurately within the VA's electronic health record system

Coordinate with dental assistants, hygienists, and other VA healthcare providers to deliver integrated, patient-centered care

Adhere to all VA clinical protocols, infection control standards, and safety guidelines governing dental practice

Participate in quality assurance activities and support continuous improvement of dental care delivery within the facility \n

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school
  • Current, valid, and unrestricted state dental license to practice general dentistry (must remain in good standing throughout the period of performance)
  • Eligibility to obtain VA credentialing and privileging prior to commencement of services
  • Ability to pass VA personnel vetting and background investigation requirements
  • Proficiency performing full-scope general dentistry procedures in a clinical setting
  • Ability to work onsite at the Orlando VA Healthcare System, 13800 Veterans Way, Orlando, FL 32827 \n What sets candidates apart:
  • Prior experience providing dental care within a VA, military, or other federal healthcare environment
  • Familiarity with VA electronic health record systems (e.g., VistA/CPRS or Oracle Health)
  • Experience treating patient populations with complex or chronic systemic health conditions common among Veterans
  • Background working in high-volume clinical settings with diverse patient demographics
  • Additional training or experience in oral surgery, endodontics, or prosthodontics beyond general dentistry

Requirements

Candidates must hold a DDS or DMD degree and a valid, unrestricted state dental license. Applicants must also be eligible for VA credentialing and able to pass a federal background investigation.
