  • Category: Health CareFamily Practice Physician (FPP) NMRTU Meridian, MS) The Family Practice Physician shall provide comprehensive clinical, preventative, and therapeutic medical services to eligible beneficiaries. Duties include examining, diagnosing, and treating patients across all age ranges for acute illnesses, chronic conditions, and general health maintenance. The physician shall perform minor surgical and clinical procedures, order and interpret laboratory and radiological tests, and prescribe appropriate medications. Additionally, the physician shall document all patient encounters promptly and accurately in the required electronic health record system, provide medical guidance to ancillary clinic staff (including Corpsmen and nursing staff), and initiate referrals to specialized care when clinically indicated. All services shall be performed in accordance with established military medicine standards, clinic protocols, and the standard of care.
  • Hours of
  • Performance: The HCW shall provide services Monday through Friday for generally an 8.5 or 9-hour period between the hours of 0700 and 1600. Each shift shall include a 0.5-hour to 1-hour uncompensated meal break. In no instance will the HCW be required to provide services in excess of 80 hours per 2-week period.

Scheduling

  • The schedule or scheduling process is as follows: Specific days, hours, and shift length will be scheduled by the designated government representative. The specific schedule for each two-week period will be provided 1 month in advance by the government supervisor or designee. Any planned absences of the HCW shall be communicated to the government supervisor in advance. At the mutual agreement of the contractor and the Government, alternative schedules may be implemented such as a compressed work schedule. Any changes in the schedule shall be coordinated between the HCW and the government. The Government reserves the right to change shift hours with 72 hours’ notice to accommodate patientcare needs and mission requirements.

  • PWS are as follows: The HCW(s) shall be required to track hours worked by signing in and out of their work location(s) using the MTF’s timekeeping system (i.e. DMRHSi, etc.)
  • Place of
  • Performance: The work to be performed under this contract will be at Naval Hospital Pensacola, FL and associated branch medical clinics, which includes Gulfport, MS and Meridian, MS. HCWs shall receive notification 48 hours prior to reassignment within a 40-mile radius of the assigned MTF. HCWs shall receive notification two weeks prior to the reassignment to another location with a 40-mile commuting radius of their assigned MTF.

  • Additional training requirements are as follows: Each HCW providing service under this Task Orders shall undergo an orientation and shall complete mandatory Navy and DOD annual training as required. Orientation may be waived for personnel who have previously provided service at the treatment facility. DOD on-line training may require that the HCW enter his/her Social Security Number to document and track compliance with training requirements.
  • Training requirements are as follows: Orientation and training shall consist of Command Orientation and Information Systems Orientation. Command orientation of up to 40 hours includes annual online training requirements for topics such as but not limited to fire, safety, infection control, family advocacy, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive Events (CBRNE) Basic Awareness, and various Navy required on-line trainings. Information Systems Orientation of approximately 24 hours of training in various modules and applications for Military Health System (MHS) Genesis. In addition, HCWs identified as MHS Genesis Super-users shall undergo an additional 8 or more hours of information systems orientation. Orientation will be provided to Contractor employees, as required, during initial regularly scheduled shifts. The HCW shall complete all orientation within 60 days after commencement of services by the HCW. Those Contractor employees who are required to be oriented during initial regularly scheduled work shifts shall be scheduled by the Contractor for shifts occurring at times when orientation classes are available. The COR will provide a list of training times up to 30 days in advance.

  • Standards: Specific policies, procedures, and instructions/regulations for the place of performance are as follows: Comply with the standards of the Joint Commission, applicable provisions of law, and the rules and regulations of any and all governmental authorities pertaining to licensure and regulation of health care personnel and medical treatment facilities, the regulations and standards of medical practice of the MTF and the bylaws of the MTF’s medical staff. Adhere to and comply with all Department of the Navy, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery and local instructions and notices which may be in effect during the term of the contract. Duties Perform a full range of Physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF. Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other HCPs within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities. Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges. Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling. Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated. Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures and participating in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols. HCW Duties The Family

  • Care: Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic illnesses. Provide comprehensive management of common medical conditions for a diverse patient population.
  • Preventive
  • Medicine: Conduct routine wellness exams, prescribe immunizations, and provide health promotion and disease prevention counseling.
  • Military
  • Readiness: Perform required military physical examinations, including periodic health assessments (PHAs), deployment-limiting medical condition evaluations, and separation/retirement physicals.
  • Occupational
  • Medicine: Performs occupational medicine examinations including pre-employment/in processing evaluations, baseline health examinations, periodic occupational medical surveillance, and administrative examinations, such as fitness-for-duty, return to work, short- and long-term disability and disability retirement examinations.
  • Medical
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, complete, and timely patient records within the designated DoD Electronic Health Record (EHR) system (e.g., MHS GENESIS) in accordance with MTF standards.
  • Referrals &
  • Consultations: Coordinate patient care by generating appropriate referrals to medical specialists and ancillary services when clinically indicated.
  • Team
  • Collaboration: Collaborate seamlessly with a multidisciplinary team of military and civilian healthcare professionals, including nurses, corpsmen/medics, and administrative staff.

This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) at the time the degree was obtained (e.g. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).

  • Physicians: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
  • Residency: Successful completion of an accredited Family Medicine Residency Program is required.
  • Board
  • Certification: The HCW must be Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP).
  • Licensure/Registration: The HCW must maintain a current, active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
  • Certifications: Possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC). Web Based classes are not acceptable. Life Saver classes must be hands on and possess the emblem from the above referenced associations.
  • DEA registration: Possess and maintain a valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration is mandatory.
