Description Direct Support Professional (DSP)- Overnight/NOC

Not Just an Overnight Job. A Chance to Help Someone Feel Safe, Supported, and Ready for the Day Ahead.

Some overnight jobs are quiet.

This one is meaningful.

At Rise & Shine, you’ll provide dependable, person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout the night. You’ll help create a safe, comfortable environment while supporting overnight routines, monitoring individual needs, completing documentation, and preparing the home for the next day.

You’ll be a steady presence.

A careful observer.

A problem solver.

A source of reassurance.

And someone individuals and team members can depend on.

Although overnight shifts may have quieter periods, this is an awake position. You must remain alert, attentive, and ready to respond throughout the entire scheduled shift.

A typical overnight shift might include

  • Providing personal care, health, mobility, or behavioral support as needed Completing overnight monitoring, safety checks, and individual-specific support tasks Following Individual Support Plans, Behavioral Support Plans, Nursing Care Plans, and overnight routines Administering medications after completing required training and authorization Accurately documenting care, observations, and important shift information Responding calmly to medical, behavioral, or safety concerns Completing assigned cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and household tasks Preparing the home and individuals for a smooth morning transition Communicating important information to the incoming team This job may be for you if... You are dependable and comfortable working overnight hours.
  • You can remain awake, alert, and engaged throughout a 10:00 PM–8:00 AM shift. You notice when something seems different and understand the importance of reporting concerns promptly. You can follow detailed care plans, medication instructions, routines, and safety protocols. You are comfortable assisting with personal care and other hands-on support when needed. You value dignity, respect, confidentiality, and person-centered care. You are looking for meaningful work—not simply a quiet overnight position. Some nights may be calm and routine. Other nights may require immediate action, patience, and sound judgment. Every individual is different, and every overnight shift is an opportunity to help someone feel safe, respected, and supported.

Fair warning...

This position requires responsibility.

You must remain awake for the full shift, complete assigned tasks, document accurately, and be ready to respond when someone needs you.

But there will also be mornings when you leave knowing that your presence helped someone have a safe night and a better start to their day.

If that sounds like the kind of meaningful overnight work you’ve been looking for...

We’d love to meet you.
