About the role

The Medical Technologist performs laboratory testing, interprets quality control results, and maintains laboratory equipment according to established guidelines. They are also responsible for collecting blood specimens and documenting investigations into adverse outcomes.

As a professional, the MT is responsible for carrying out the philosophy and objectives defined by regulatory requirements and hospital standard operating procedures. Responsibilities

Performs testing and test procedures according to established policies and guidelines Interprets quality control results and instrument function Completes scheduled preventive maintenance duties Provides assistance and guidance involving repairs, validations, and function checks and works with vendors as appropriate Collects blood specimens, etc. from laboratory outpatients Assists and completes investigations involving unexpected or adverse outcomes and keeps documentation according to regulatory guidelines

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree with major in Medical Technology or related science required.

Experience

  • Less than one year.
  • License(s)/Certification(s): Certified as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by Board of Registry of ASCP or equivalent due upon hire or within one (1) year from date of hire required.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related science. Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by the ASCP or equivalent is required upon hire or within one year.
