Description We are looking for an experienced and dependable Surgical Technologist to join our Dermatology & Mohs Surgery team. The Surgical Technologist will work closely with the Mohs surgeon and clinical team to prepare patients, procedure rooms, instruments, and supplies while assisting throughout Mohs and other dermatologic surgical procedures. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment. Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, specimen handling, and infection-control practices is important for this position.
Key Responsibilities Prepare procedure rooms, instruments, supplies, and equipment for Mohs and dermatologic surgical procedures.
Assist the physician and clinical team throughout procedures.
Maintain a sterile field and follow appropriate infection-control and safety protocols.
Prepare and position patients for procedures while maintaining their comfort, privacy, and dignity.
Assist with surgical site preparation and sterile draping.
Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and provide instruments and supplies throughout procedures.
Maintain and organize surgical instruments and procedure supplies.
Perform surgical counts as required.
Properly handle and identify surgical specimens and ensure they are processed according to established protocols.
Assist with specimen preparation and communication with the appropriate laboratory team.
Assist with wound care and dressing application as directed by the physician.
Prepare rooms for each patient and efficiently turn over procedure rooms throughout the day.
Clean, disinfect, and/or sterilize instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
Ensure procedure rooms remain properly stocked and organized.
Monitor surgical supplies and notify appropriate staff when supplies need to be reordered.
Maintain accurate documentation related to procedures as required.
Follow HIPAA, infection prevention, OSHA, and company policies and procedures.
Provide professional and compassionate patient care throughout the surgical experience.
Work collaboratively with Mohs surgeons, dermatologists, nurses, medical assistants, and other clinical staff.
Assist with additional clinical and surgical duties as needed.
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred. Current Surgical Technologist certification preferred. Previous surgical or procedure-room experience required. Previous experience in dermatology or Mohs surgery is strongly preferred. Knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and infection-control procedures. Strong understanding of surgical safety and specimen handling. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to anticipate the needs of the physician during procedures. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Professional and compassionate patient demeanor. Reliable, punctual, and dependable. Preferred Experience Experience working in Mohs surgery, dermatologic surgery, outpatient surgery, or a dermatology procedure setting is highly preferred. Experience with surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, specimen handling, wound care, and procedure-room turnover is a plus. Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
