Medical assistant-Bilingual (Spanish)

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, completion of a formal medical service training program of the United States Armed Forces, is required. (Must provide official transcript at time of interview.), OR Five (5) years of recent full-time professional Medical Assistant experience is required. Certificate as a Medical Assistant through the American Association of Medical Assistants(AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Health career Association (NHA),American Registry of Medical Assistant (ARMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or the Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) OR Certified as a Registered Medical Assistant OR Completion of a Cook County Medical Assistant Training Program prior to starting employment, is required. (Must provide certification at time of interview.) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association, is required. (Must provide certification at time of interview.) Bilingual-Spanish (Bilingual testing for Spanish will be administered. Passing score of 3 – High Intermediate, is required)

Preferred Qualifications

One (1) year of experience as a Medical Assistant or in a related clinical capacity within a healthcare environment, is preferred.

Frequently exposed to various hazards of patient care. Equipment used: Standard medical equipment such as stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, electronic and emergency equipment, EKG, Centrifuge, Nebulizer, various monitoring devices (Cholesterol, Glucose, INR) as well as various office related equipment (computer, fax machine, copy machine, etc.) Physical Demands: The incumbent stands and walks 80%25 of the day. May be required to lift/push/pull up to 25lbs. Constantly uses both hands and fingers for handling. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS This position is functioning within a healthcare environment.
