The Registered Polysomnography Technologist performs polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, and patient care under general supervision, potentially serving as a preceptor for trainees. Duties include scoring sleep studies, performing various sleep procedures, identifying equipment malfunctions, and collaborating with staff to meet operational goals.
Candidates must have a High School Equivalent/GED, proficiency in scoring according to AASM Standards, knowledge of patient monitoring basics, and be certified by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT) or equivalent. Preferred qualifications include an Associate's Degree and 1+ years of experience.

Good interpersonal skills. (Required proficiency) Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies; has a command of the sleep-induced changes in the physiology of various body systems; (Required proficiency) has a working knowledge of the physiological and behavioral aberrations associated with sleep/arousal pathology and be capable of rapid interpretation of various tracings as to be able to intervene during a study.
