Job Summary
The Oncology Scheduler is responsible for answering scheduling related calls for Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Breast Surgery, Chest Surgery, and IVOP.
The Oncology Scheduler will answer multiple line telephones in a timely, professional manner, and schedule physician consult and follow-up appointments according to the practice template within Meditech Expanse and/or Aria EMR.
The Oncology Scheduler gathers appropriate patient information to pre-register the patient within these EMRs, gathers all pertinent medical records for new and follow up visits, and ensures pre-visit paperwork is sent to the patient for completion.
The Oncology Scheduler directs other calls to appropriate staff as needed.
Performs other administrative duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education
High School Diploma or GED required. Vocational training preferred. Additional education may be substituted for experience.
Experience
At least two years prior experience in a healthcare office setting; Oncology office experience preferred.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Intermediate proficiency and accuracy in the use of software programs such as MS Word, and Outlook
Experience with electronic heath records, such as NextGen and Aria, preferred
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; professional telephone communication
Ability to manage multiple phone lines; Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand
Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
Ability to work professionally with a diverse population base

Pay is based on experience, skills and education. If position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid, if applicable.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30a-4p, 8a-4:30p, or 8:30a-5p (30 minutes for lunch)
