The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for tasks including deciphering and entering computer orders, compounding IVs, managing charges and credits, filling orders, and stocking the department after a training period. Key duties involve running reports, performing sterile and non-sterile compounding according to USP guidelines, and managing automated dispensing systems.
This entry-level position requires a High School Diploma or GED and a Pharmacy Technician license through the state of Michigan, with temporary license holders needing to obtain a full license within 365 days. Candidates must possess good math and organizational skills, computer experience (including Windows competency), and the ability to work under pressure.
The Pharmacy Technician is an entry‑level position. Following a training period, the Technician should be able to decipher and enter orders on the computer, compound IVs, charge and credit, fill orders, answer phones and doors, and stock the department.
Certifications and Licensures
PHARM TECH ‑ Pharmacy Technician Licensure Required Equivalent Experience ‑ New hire and transfers before October 1, 2015 must possess a full technician license or limited pharmacy license through the state of Michigan. Effective October 1, 2015, all incumbents, new hires and transfers to this position must possess a pharmacy technician temporary, limited or full license through the state of Michigan Individuals with a temporary license must obtain a full license through the state of Michigan within 365 days of obtaining the temporary license. A Pharmacist Intern License with the State of MI is also acceptable.
