Position Overview
The Dentist participates in the implementation of a community-oriented dental program, by providing general dental care in the educative, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative areas. At sites where the Dental Director is not available on a regular basis or on a continuous basis the Dentist at that site will supervise the day-to-day activities of the dental hygienist, EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary's) if any present at the clinic in which the provider is providing dental treatment in as pursuant to the "New Mexico Board of Dental Health Care, Statutes, Rules and Regulations. The Dental Assistants will be supervised in collaboration with the Dental Clinic Manager.

You
Will Do: Provide dental care to patients by examining and diagnosing patients and carrying out or supervising therapy; referring patients for specialty consultation; educating patients in oral health; documenting patient-doctor transactions for proper record keeping and billing. Diagnose, treat, and prevent oral diseases, injuries, and malformations of the teeth, gums, and mouth. Remove tooth decay, filling cavities, repairing damaged teeth, perform surgeries, and advise patients on proper oral hygiene. Ensure productivity in accordance with annual Leadership encounters and monthly reports. Provide input and recommendations to the Dental
Director by participating in the following operational assessments: changes in the program of dental services; development of new or improved dental protocols; evaluation of dental operations; and participation in quality assessment and quality assurance activities. Provide professional Leadership to Dental Staff by providing guidance to the dental hygienist, EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary's) if any present at the clinic and to dental assistants during the provision of patient care, responding to clinical questions, and assuming responsibilities as a member of the patient care team. Maintain Professional and technical knowledge by participating I am continuing education or seminars related to job requirements. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, including participating in organizational and quality improvement initiatives. Travel to other clinic site locations as needed. Adhere to customer service by exhibiting behavior and actions which create a high level of patient/customer relations, which reflect respect for the patient's/customer's rights, needs and confidentiality. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an approved and accredited school of dentistry with a degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.). Licensure to practice dentistry in New Mexico is required. Licensure must be kept current, full, and unrestricted through participation in an appropriate course of continuing education. If licensure is not from the State of New Mexico, endorsement by the New Mexico Board of Dentistry is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.

Bilingual English/Spanish. Physical Requirements: Ability to balance, bend, lift, carry, and pull up to 20 lbs. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, typically longer than four hours. Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, or as needed. Manual dexterity and ability to use hands and fingers for feeling, grasping, and operating office equipment. Adequate hearing ability for communication and monitoring office environments. Good vision for reading documents, operating office equipment, and observing surroundings.
