The role involves performing secretarial and clerical duties, acting as the communication center for the nursing unit, and handling patient admissions, transfers, and discharges paperwork. Additionally, the technician performs specific patient care procedures under nurse direction, such as bedside testing and monitoring patient vital signs and data.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or GED and are required to have BLS certification at the time of hire. Clinical experience, completion of a Unit Secretary course, or completion of a self-study module is preferred, and competency verification must be successfully completed before starting on the unit.
