Performs CT examinations requiring technical judgment and initiative to obtain diagnostic images using ionizing radiation, while promoting a cooperative atmosphere focused on patient care for all ages. Responsibilities include mastering patient positioning, quality control, administering contrast via IV lines, presenting high-quality images to Radiologists, and ensuring correct billing for procedures and supplies.
Required education includes a High School Diploma/GED and graduation from a Radiology Program, along with current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Candidates must obtain ARRT certification in CT within 12 months of hire, though an Associate's degree and 1+ years of Customer Service and Radiographer experience are preferred.
Essential Functions: Consistently demonstrates a thorough knowledge of patient positioning, principles of CT radiation exposure, quality control, image reconstruction, specialized protocols and demonstrates the ability to plan own work. Assists physicians in performing procedures. Provides learning environment. Prepares and administers correct amount of contrast, using aseptic techniques as outlined in the Infection Control manual. Able to start and maintain IV lines. Documents appropriately in patients chart. Develops and maintains teamwork. Demonstrates willingness to learn new procedures and accepts additional responsibilities. Is on time and prepared to work scheduled hours. Documents appropriate information in patients’ charts. Ensures the procedure and related supplies are billed correctly. Presents high quality images to Radiologists. Competently works within required computer programs (i.e. PACs, RIS, Vrad) as well as manual downtime processes. All other duties as assigned. Additional Requirements Required: Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent: General Studies Graduate - Radiology Program Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; (ARRT)(R) (CT) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with advanced certification in Cat Scan or completion of CT Registry within 12 months of hire. Regarding BLS certification: The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.
