The CMA III provides basic patient care and assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment under the supervision of an RN/LPN in the clinic setting. Specific duties include escorting patients, taking medical histories, and ensuring compliance with established policies and standards.
Candidates must be a graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program and hold North Dakota registration as an MAIII through the ND Board of Nursing. Prior healthcare experience is preferred, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within six months of employment.
Escorts patients to examining rooms, takes detailed medical histories, and determines the reason for the visit. Maintains established office/clinic policies and procedures, goals, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards, and protocols. Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families per office/clinic standards. Provides general aspects of care that meet psychosocial or physical needs or both simultaneously, within the nursing assistant’s scope of practice. Meets communication needs of patients. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Finds and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family. Demonstrates performance reflecting the initiative and responsibility expected of a nursing assistant. Performs other duties as assigned, within the Medical Assistant’s scope of practice. Performs basic patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age. Notifies proper licensed personnel when patient complaints. Maintains knowledge of operation and maintenance of clinical equipment, drugs, and supplies. Demonstrates ability to communicate to the RN or LPN any observed changes in patient status and responses. Maintains awareness of the needs of the pediatric, geriatric, and general patient population. Response is proper to the patient in emergencies or physically distressful situations. Must have strong oral communication skills (reading, writing, speaking and comprehension). Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Prolonged periods of periods of standing and bending. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. QualificationsQualifications: Must be a graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program North Dakota (ND) registration as an MAIII through the ND Board of Nursing. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification needed within six months of employment. Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Must complete a background check and drug screening.
