The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides timely and efficient respiratory care services to patients across all hospital settings. They perform clinical duties, assist with administrative tasks, and maintain clinical competencies while providing expertise to departmental staff.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program and hold a current Tennessee state license. A minimum of six months of experience is required, with critical care experience preferred.
I.Position Summary
The RRT will provide services, timely and efficiently, at appropriate levels to all patients and in all settings served by thedepartment. The RRT will perform tasks and duties as outlined in the Respiratory Care Departments’ Policy and Procedure Manual and will assist in assigned administrative tasks, both basic and advanced, and will maintain clinical competencies through participation in educational and orientation programs. The RRT should also be able to provide advanced clinical expertise and education to departmental staff members.
License-State of Tennessee, Registered/ABG-Endorsed, National Board forRespiratory Care; Certification-Basic life Support (CPR).
Graduate of Respiratory Care program accredited by the Joint Review Committee for Respiratory TherapyEducation (JRCRTE).
Six months required, with critical care experience preferred.
Current licensure in State of Tennessee as a Respiratory Therapist. Good communication skillsboth orally and written. Computer skills are necessary. Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care.
Involves general guidance and direction by Department Director. The employee is expectedto perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
This position requires competence in assessment, treatment, and/or care for the age groups indicated. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training, or experience.

Required correct hearing and vision to within functional ranges. Requires frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling and moving equipment. Requires sufficient manual dexterity to operate therapeutic equipment and draw blood samples. Must have full use of upper and lower extremities and the ability to walk up to three miles per shift.
This position requires the use of personal protective equipment during various tasks/activities. Personal protective equipment includes, but is not limited to, gloves, masks and safety glasses.
