Provide direct support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities by assisting with daily living activities, personal hygiene, and medication administration. Facilitate community outings and provide job coaching to help clients achieve their personal and employment goals.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver's license, and pass pre-employment drug, background, and driving record screenings. Strong English communication skills and the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds are required.
Description Horizon Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been operating in Umatilla County since 1977. We support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes (24/7 support) and in the community. We're looking for reliable caregivers that prioritize quality client care and support the clients at their jobs.
No prior experience or certifications are required. Experience may be considered when discussing starting pay.
$16 - $22 per hour. Starting pay is $16 - $18.50 depending on experience. +$1 per hour when job coaching with a client.
Monday - Friday, 8AM-4PM (40 hrs per week) **occasional weekend or evening hours are required**
Must be over the age of 18 years old Must pass a pre-employment drug test Must pass a pre-employment driving records screening Must maintain a clean driving record during your employment Must have a valid driver's license that is insurable by HPI's auto insurance provider (Driving Required Position) Must pass a pre-employment background check by Oregon DHS ( Must maintain a clean background check (background check renewed every 2 years, or more frequently as dictated by ODHS) Must be able to communicate effectively in English Physical Demands Position is active in nature. Must be able to monitor and observe the activities of program participants. Regularly move about or position self to supervise and interact with participants at their level. Occasionally lift, transport, position, push/pull or move up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques. Must be sufficiently mobile and possess a range of motion to perform repetitive standing, walking, balancing, stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, sitting on the floor, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and twisting. Ability to react quickly to the physical actions of program participant. Administrative and supervisory activities will require ability to operate keyboard-driven equipment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Sufficiently mobile to attend activities and meetings within the Umatilla County. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
