The Charge Nurse plans, organizes, and provides direct and indirect resident care while ensuring compliance with nursing standards and regulations. They also supervise nursing personnel, conduct daily rounds, and coordinate with healthcare providers to meet resident needs.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school and hold a current, unencumbered LPN license in Iowa. Previous experience in long-term care and current CPR certification are preferred.

The Charge Nurse plans, organizes, and assists in providing direct and indirect resident care following established policies and procedures, standards of nursing practice and principles of nursing care. The Charge Nurse also orients, instructs and supervises personnel.
Assess and implement interventions for resident care based on standards of nursing practice and principles of nursing care, in accordance with Federal, State, and Company requirements. Make daily rounds to see all residents to ascertain condition and comfort. Initiate procedures to protect residents from injury and infection. Assist Director of Nursing and/or RN with developing, implementing, and evaluating plans of care to include, but not be limited to, recognition of spiritual, emotional, psychosocial, and functional factors. Encourage and assist with restorative care in self-care and group activities. Monitor nursing personnel compliance with nursing policies and procedures and competency of clinical skills, evaluating nursing staff job performance with direction from the Director of Nursing. Communicate with the health care provider as indicated by resident needs or status and assure follow-through; maintain hand-off communications with oncoming shift regarding resident care needs. Oversees direct care staff and ensures staff complete tasks and cares as assigned. Speak, read and write the English language in an understandable manner. Ability to apply principles of basic general math. QualificationsQualifications: The Charge Nurse must be a graduate from an accredited school, be currently licensed in Iowa without encumbrance, be responsible for maintaining professional licensure and CEU requirements. Preferably 1-2 years of previous nursing experience as a Charge Nurse in Long Term Care and/or a Skilled Nursing Facility. Must successfully complete LPN Supervisory Course within 90 days of employment. Must be currently CPR certified.
