The Medical Assistant manages daily exam room operations on mobile units, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and agency policies. They are responsible for patient preparation, clinical documentation in the EHR, and supporting healthcare providers with lab work and prescription management.
Candidates must possess a certificate or associate's degree in medical assisting along with a Phlebotomy Certificate and a high school diploma. Proficiency in clinical skills, EHR navigation, and strong communication abilities are required for this role.
Manage the day-to-day appointments and functioning of the exam rooms to ensure a safe, secure and healthy work environment in conformance with program objectives, agency policies and procedures, and compliance with regulatory funding, governing bodies and legal regulations. Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential in accordance to HIPAA and other governing bodies. Oversee functioning and maintenance of the exam rooms which impact on the quality and productivity of the program. Responsible preparing clients for their visit as needed. Responsible for confirming purpose of the appointment, completing vital signs, obtaining patient history, ensuring files are up to date and accurate in the E.H.R., completing Brief Medical Screening, preparing medical charts etc. Responsible for providing information, instructions and answering questions in accordance to prescriber education for the patient. Support patient care delivery by helping health care providers by carrying out and tracking the authorization of drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; managing lab work and follow up for results; assisting to complete drug tests (including supervised drug tests when clinically indicated) and ensure processing, with follow up to receive results. Responsible for administrative duties including but not limited to confirming appointments, completing and following up on prior authorizations, managing supply stock and placing orders as needed, following up on lab work results for clients and implementing tracking systems as needed. Responsible for updating the patient chart in the EHR, i.e., recording patient's exam, test results, treatment etc. Facilitate sharing of data with the individuals to whom it applies to facilitate partnered decision-making and to keep clients informed of progress Complete QI Training during onboarding and participate in QI refresher training as needed.
