The Perioperative Care Assistant provides routine support in the Surgical Services Department, including transporting patients and delivering specimens. They are responsible for room turnover, cleaning equipment, and maintaining a safe, stocked environment for surgical procedures.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and while no prior experience is necessary, one year of healthcare experience is preferred. Candidates must be physically capable of standing for long periods and lifting over 50 lbs.

The Perioperative Care Assistant (PCA) in the operating room will be responsible for providing routine care that assists in safe and effective patient care in the Surgical Services Department under the direct supervision of the RN.
Transports patients, delivers stat patient specimens to appropriate areas. Obtains blood/blood products from blood bank. Assists perioperative charge nurse in the patient holding area. Performs surgical clipping according to department policy. Assists with positioning, moving, and lifting patients. Assists the surgical team with room turnover/termination. Assists nursing staff in OR suites as requested. Demonstrates basic knowledge of cleaning for turnover and termination of OR rooms. (Prepares rooms for emergency and next day cases). Sets up, cleans, and delivers equipment to OR suites. Returns clean equipment to proper location. Maintains a neat, safe, clean environment. Restocks daily supplies, sets up supplies for next day. Removes trash, linen, and used equipment from OR suite at close of cases. Cleans equipment, OR tables, floors, and kick buckets in assigned OR rooms. Assures stock of personal protective equipment in assigned rooms and halls. Maintains decontamination room in neat and clean manner sending dirty carts down to Sterile Processing. Cleans and makes up stretchers for holding use. Fulfills all full-time or part-time requirements for hours worked for which hired (FT - 37.5, PT - 30.0, etc.) Fulfills all weekday and weekend on call requirements - this applies to all PCAs (FT, PT, PD). Exception is to individuals based at Surgicare
Required Skills and Experience: HS Diploma or equivalent experience
Preferred Skills and Experience: 1+ years of experience in a healthcare related role is preferred
Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Requires ability to lift >25lbs and assist with patient positioning/transfers and be able to lift 50 or more lbs.
Standard rate of $17.34 - $24.41 per hour
