The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting and processing blood samples from patients of all ages while maintaining specimen integrity. They also provide clerical support, including computer receipt of specimens and handling telephone inquiries.
A high school diploma and phlebotomy certification are preferred. One year of experience in an acute care hospital setting is desired.
The Phlebotomist is the Department’s primary support system and is responsible for procuring blood samples from patients, for preserving the integrity of specimens and for proper processing and preparation of all samples. Sample collection is performed on patients of all ages including neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Additionally the Phlebotomist will provide computer receipt of specimens and various computer/clerical support functions such as answering telephone inquiries from other departments of the facility and assisting with outpatients. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. High School Diploma/GED preferred; college hours preferred. 2. Completion of a phlebotomy certification program preferred. 3. One year of demonstrated experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred. 4. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. 5. Customer Focused and Team Player.
