Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), monitors patient safety, and documents vital signs and treatments. Performs clinical tasks such as obtaining EKGs and inserting urinary catheters under professional supervision.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a current CNA certification. Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days and MOAB certification within 6 months of hire.
Assists patients with ADL’s according to hospital procedures, reports all abnormal findings and changes in patient condition to nurse in charge of patient. Assists with restocking of rooms and maintain a safe and clean environment. Follows all established infection control policies and recognizes role in providing safety to the patient. Obtain EKG under the direction of the nurse/paramedic. Insertion of urinary catheters under the direction of the nurse/paramedic. Documents vital signs, weights, activity, intake and outputs, and ADL care given to patient in computer.staff. Uses Patient/Family Centered approach of care of patient/family.
Education: Must be actively enrolled in high school or an equivalent program with a current CNA certification or High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Previous hospital or nursing home experience as a Patient Care Tech and/or completion of training in nursing school that covers Patient Care Tech type duties and/or Must attend UPHSL Patient Care Tech training.
