- This is an excellent opportunity for nurses who are passionate about patient-centered care and interested in building or expanding their experience in orthopedic and podiatric health.
- In this role, you will support providers in assessing and triaging patient needs, assisting with treatment plans, and coordinating care for patients with a wide range of foot and ankle conditions.
- You will also provide patient and family education, helping individuals better understand their diagnoses, treatment options, and recovery plans.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate incoming patient phone calls and messages to determine urgency of symptoms and appropriate next steps for foot and ankle conditions.
- Provide telephone triage and guide patients to the appropriate level of care or follow-up, including urgent orthopedic concerns.
- Assist in coordinating urgent and routine care for patients with acute and chronic foot and ankle injuries or conditions (e.g., fractures, sprains, post-operative concerns, infections).
- Communicate effectively with foot and ankle surgeons, providers, and clinical team members to ensure timely, coordinated patient care.
- Educate patients and caregivers on diagnoses, treatment plans, post-operative care, and rehabilitation strategies to support optimal recovery.
- Provide ongoing patient support and resources tailored to individual recovery needs and mobility goals.
- Accurately document all patient interactions, assessments, and care plans in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Track patient outcomes and coordinate follow-up appointments to ensure continuity of care and optimal healing progress.
Qualifications
Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa Experience: All levels of RN experience will be considered. Prior experience in foot and ankle or specialty care is a plus, but not required.
Education
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing
