Responsibilities

Provide direct professional nursing care for postoperative patients in PACU, using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.
Monitor vital signs, airway status, pain control, and recovery progress; intervene and escalate to the anesthesia or surgical team as needed.
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other members of the health care team to coordinate timely and safe delivery of care for patients across all ages as assigned.
Implement the medical plan of care, discharge planning, and patient education tailored to individual needs and input from patients and significant others.
Delegate appropriate tasks to other nursing staff (including CNAs) based on current clinical competence and scope of practice; supervise and support team members to maintain high-quality care.
Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record; ensure adherence to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in California
Graduation from an approved nursing program
Ability to work in a PACU/perioperative setting and to care for patients across age ranges as required by the unit
Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with physicians and the health care team
Willingness to participate in a travel assignment and comply with the 8-week duration
