Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care as the PACU RN, taking accountability for a group of patients for the designated shift.
• Prescribe and implement nursing care based on the nursing process, aligned with the medical plan of care and patient/family input.
• Collaborate with physicians and other members of the health care team to coordinate post-anesthesia care for patients of any age, depending on the assigned unit.
• Incorporate teaching and discharge planning needs into the overall plan of care.
• Delegate appropriate aspects of patient care to other nursing staff based on current clinical competence and scope of practice.
• Ensure accurate documentation and continuity of care, maintaining patient safety throughout the PACU stay.

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in California
• Nursing education from an approved program (degree as standard for RN practice)
• Ability to work in a PACU/post-anesthesia care setting and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
• Capacity to care for patients across a broad age range as assigned by the unit
• Strong communication and clinical judgment skills to support patient teaching and discharge planning
• Availability to work the listed shift pattern and travel assignment
