What does a typical day look like for the Phlebotomist? You will: Monday through Friday. All Shifts. Provide a full range of phlebotomy procedures, on-site, using Government-furnished facilities, equipment, and supplies. Process patients before specimen collection, including review of paperwork accompanying patients and cordial guidance and assistance. Collect blood samples using the Vacutainer blood collection system or a syringe with a needle/butterfly when necessary. Perform proper veni-puncture, finger stick procedures, and other tests identified by CLIA 88 regulations as being waived, using appropriate techniques. Perform set-up and completion of special test-related phlebotomy procedures utilizing appropriate techniques. Adhere to laboratory safety protocols. Perform phlebotomy-related administrative and clerical procedures of the Front Desk Section of the Lab. Fully document all samples obtained per the laboratory’s standard operating procedures. Interacting with other employees and lab management to provide efficient specimen processing service to patients. perform centrifugation procedures as instructed by lab management. Collect and process urine samples for both and/or timed collections for testing. Correctly Deliver collected blood and urine samples to the appropriate departments at determined times. What qualifications do you look for? You might be the professional we’re looking for if you have: Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship. National or state-recognized phlebotomy certification (e.g., CPT ASCP, NHA, AMT) Previous experience with the VA is a plus. Previous experience as a phlebotomist is a plus. If selected, candidates will need to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.
