The resident will provide community-based primary care for complex and underserved populations across the lifespan. Responsibilities include participating in specialty rotations, attending weekly didactic sessions, and completing a Quality Improvement Project.
Candidates must hold an MSN degree and a MA Advanced Practice License (or be in good standing to obtain one) by September 2026. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and commit to a 12-month residency followed by a one-year employment commitment.
Program Overview HealthFirst’s Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Residency is a paid twelve-month, post-graduate program launching in September. Designed to provide continued support after twelve months to new nurse practitioners as they transition into independent practice, community-based primary care for complex and underserved populations across the lifespan. Through structured mentorship, specialty rotations in women’s health, pediatrics, adult medicine, obesity, Hepatitis C, behavioral health, and addiction medicine that strengthen comprehensive primary care skills, and hands-on clinical experience, residents build the clinical expertise, operational confidence, and professional judgment needed to thrive in a primary care setting. The residency is followed by a one-year employment commitment, offering a valuable opportunity to further refine skills within a supportive environment in a full-time nurse practitioner role.
Application Requirements Must graduate with a MSN degree and become a licensed APRN prior to September 2026 MA Advanced Practice License is required (if license is not available at the time of application, a letter from your program stating that you are in good standing must be submitted) Be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or foreign national with permanent residency status. Individuals on temporary or student visas are not eligible Commit to a full-time, 12-month paid residency and a second year of full-time employment. Provide 2 letters of recommendation (not to exceed 250 words) that should address the nature and duration of professional relationships as well as assessment of clinical and professional capabilities Submit a cover letter expressing your interest in the residency program and highlighting your motivation for pursuing postgraduate residency training, your commitment to community health and primary care, and how this program aligns with your professional goals
