Performs technical and clerical pharmacy duties including preparing, packaging, and delivering medications under pharmacist supervision. Responsible for aseptic IV preparation and maintaining medication supplies throughout the hospital facility.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the MN State Board. Candidates should have a pharmacy technician certificate or equivalent experience and be able to obtain PTCB or ExCPT certification within one year.
Accurately prepares, packages, labels, and delivers medications after they are checked by a registered pharmacist, intern, or qualified technician checker Correctly performs pharmaceutical calculations to ensure correct doses are dispensed Aseptically prepares IV admixtures and other sterile products as requested (when trained) Triages pharmacy phone calls and resolves issues as able Inspects and maintains medication supply throughout the facility. Removes and replaces outdated medications from the pharmacy, clinics, nursing stations, and Automated Dispensing Cabinets Possesses strong interpersonal skills, is a team player, and promotes a positive team environment Demonstrates good decision making skills, problem solving techniques, and possesses the ability to prioritize multiple tasks Maintains and improves pharmacy workflow Performs patient charging and other pharmacy financial activities when needed Uses and maintains pharmacy equipment, medication rooms, and work areas according to approved procedures Performs additional pharmacy technician duties as assigned
