About the role

Provide direct care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting, including assistance with daily living activities and medication administration. Responsible for transporting residents to appointments and maintaining a safe, clean environment.

Position: Caregiver IDD Respite

Program: Amarillo, Texas – IDD (Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities) Respite

Salary

$17.50/hr.

Shift available: Full-time

As a non-profit, TPC provides a wide range of services from mental health and substance use support to intellectual and developmental disability care, empowering clients of all ages to achieve dignity and independence. With seven service centers located throughout the region, our staff work together with our clients to achieve our mission to create an accessible system of care that supports individual choice and truly make a difference. Essential duties and responsibilities of the Caregiver

  • Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma-Informed Care language
  • Shift hours: Multiple full-time and part-time openings
  • Potential on-call rotation
  • The Caregiver performs direct care for persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in a residential setting for male or female residents
  • The Caregiver is responsible for training, transporting, preparation of meals, feeding, bathing, toileting, medication administration and maintaining a safe and clean environment for the residents, and other duties associated with daily living
  • Transports consumers to and from scheduled day programs, outings, appointments, and recreational functions as required. Includes transporting in cars, minivans, and 15 passenger vans.
  • Order, stock, inventory, and rotate food supplies to maintain sufficient quantities to facilitate the operation of the group home with household needs
  • Adheres to TPC Business Code of Conduct and reports concerns if ethical and/or business standards defined in the code are compromised

Required qualifications of the Caregiver to be successful in the job

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One semester (12 credit hours) of accredited college work; or minimum of eighth grade reading comprehension level as evidenced by score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE) test
  • Employees may be required to utilize their personal mobile phones for two-factor authentication (2FA).

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid Texas driver's license. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and meet specific reading comprehension or college credit requirements.
