About the role

The Medical Assistant will assist providers with patient care, including minor procedures, vitals collection, and preparing exam rooms. They will also perform various clerical duties such as scheduling appointments and managing patient charts.

Toledo Clinic's Advanced Pain Management Department is seeking a Credentialed Medical Assistant (RMA/CMA/CCMA) to work on a CONTINGENT basis. This position will be scheduled as needed (M-Th, 7:30-4:00 & F, 7:30-2).

General Summary

Assist providers with patient treatment, prepares patient for providers, and performs various clerical duties.

Works under the supervision of the Office Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Consistently arrives at work on time and adheres to regular work schedule.

Assist providers with patient care (i.e.: assisting with minor procedures/surgeries such as removing sutures, staples, moles, etc.).

Various clerical duties (i.e.: answering phones, scheduling appointments, handling patient charts, etc.).

Escorting patients to exam room.

Preparing exam rooms.

Preparing patient for providers (i.e.: histories, blood pressure, vitals, etc.).

Sterilizing and preparing instruments.

At the request of the physician, calling in prescription refills.

Order and maintain exam room supplies and instruments.

Follow up with lab work and/or x-rays.

Administering injections.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Required

Consistently arrives at work in appropriate/professional attire.

Completes all tasks within established time frame.

Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures.

Excellent interpersonal skills required.

Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.

Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.

Credentialed as a Medical Assistant (i.e.: CMA or RMA).

Medicare Exclusion List.

Education

• Medical Assisting degree or diploma from an accredited school.

Preferred

• Clinical medical assisting experience.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Medical Assisting degree or diploma and be credentialed as a CMA or RMA. Previous clinical medical assisting experience is preferred.
